WeChat Disaster Fact #1: Entering the WeChat world just because it has over 1.1 Billion Users. — It is similar with trying to dig through the desert with the hope that you will get a lot of diamonds out of your effort. Worse, if you are not careful, you will receive a lot of slash back in which it will ruin your chances to build the “right” audience for your business.

WeChat Disaster Fact #2: Not doing enough research. — Who is your target market? Are they freebie seekers or potential buyers? What is your method on providing solutions? You MUST have these benchmarks before you enter the WeChat world. Hint: The majority of the WeChat users are Chinese.

WeChat Disaster Fact #3: Target everyone who speaks English or your languages. — Assumption is a disastrous strategy to build a successful business with WeChat. If you want to build your business, you can’t just assume everyone needs to lose weight, make money, and have a low self-esteem. It is similar with doing cold calling. Does cold calling work? Absolutely not.

WeChat Disaster Fact #4: Focus on searching everyone on WeChat. — This is a big mistake. Why? It is because NOT everyone will be interested in what you have to say. My point is you have to be picky on the type of audience you would like to attract in your business.

Remember: Like attracts like. If you want to build potential clients, you need to be very selective on the people you attract from WeChat. This is why you always have to “filter” out freebie seekers for your business.

WeChat Disaster Fact #5: Focus on Selling To Your Audience, Instead of Educating them. –Why is this considered a bad idea? Remember, every time you sell to your audience, people will stay away from you. On the other hand, every time you educate your audience even if it is about a new handbag, you will attract relationship with your audience. My point is… Balance between selling your audience and educating your audience on each post.

WeChat Disaster Fact #6: Creating Your Stories on WeChat Just As a Way to Add Contents. – High-Quality posts outsmart high-quantity posts. Some people will tell you that you just need to put something out on a daily basis. Though it may be true to a certain extent, but in reality, you MUST improve each story that you release overtime. This allows your audience to see the constant “improvement” you are building in your business. In return, it allows you to grow your followers with WeChat.

WeChat Disaster Fact #7: Avoid Understanding Posts That Attract The Most Traffic. — As I’ve mentioned on Mistake #6, it is vitally important for you to create high-quality stories at all time. However, every time you publish a new post, it is important to see the “structure” of the posts that give you the most traffic. This allows you to narrow down on what you need to do to publish the right type of “stories” on your WeChat account.
